Magnetic Testing

Magnetic Field Mapper Systems

3D magnetic field mapping and multi-dimensional magnetic field testing platforms for quality inspection and advanced magnetic analysis of permanent magnets, motors, coils and electromagnets.

Magnetic Field Mapping Principles

Magnetic field mapping measures the spatial distribution of a magnetic field around or within a finished component, producing coordinate maps, polar plots and 3D field distributions used for quality inspection and harmonic analysis of permanent magnets, motor stators/rotors, coils and electromagnets.

Field mapping is distinct from characterizing the intrinsic magnetic properties of a material. For measuring a material's bulk magnetic moment and hysteresis behaviour directly, see MAGTRANS' Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is magnetic field mapping used for?

Magnetic field mapping is used to measure the spatial distribution of a magnetic field around or within a finished component, such as a permanent magnet, motor stator or rotor, coil or electromagnet, supporting quality inspection and field uniformity analysis.

How is magnetic field mapping different from VSM measurement?

A magnetic field mapper measures the external magnetic field distribution around an assembled component, while a Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) characterizes the intrinsic magnetic properties, such as magnetic moment and hysteresis, of the material itself.
